Marla heels

2011

maple, brass

womens 9.5

A foray into the material techniques and formal possibilities of bent plywood, these sumptuous heels both stand alone as sculptural entities and functionally bear the gait of their user. The delicate contours of the human body are translated into the curves of the shoe, while the use of bent plywood as a medium circumvents the traditional standards of the craft and reexamines the pedestrian typology of footwear. The Marla Heels are indicative of an enthusiasm for experimental fashion, as it redefines the shapes in which we adorn ourselves, and the objects to which our bodies relate most intimately.
